Dr Philip Currie - MBBS, FRACP, MBA - Cardiologist and Echocardiographer
Philip is the principal specialists and the founder of CVS. He has a 20 year background in cardiology both in the United States and Australia and is at the cutting edge of the cardiology subspecialty of echocardiography.
Philip trained at Monash University in Melbourne completing his residency and a two-year cardiology fellowship at the Alfred Hospital. To gain further experience in cardiology, Philip moved to the United States completing a two-year cardiology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, remaining at the Mayo Clinic as Senior Association Cardiologist. Philip then moved 3 years later to Anne Arbor, Michigan accepting the position of Director of Echcardiography at Michigan Heart & Vascular Institute and also Director do Echocardiography St. Mary Hospital. He then became Assistant Professor Medicine at Detroit Medical Centre, Wayne State University consulting in echocardiography, valvular heart disease and adult congenital heart disease.
In 1997, Philip returned to Australia taking up the position as Locum Cardiologist at Royal Perth Hospital. From September 1998, he went into full time private practice, focusing on the success of CVS. Philip is the at the forefront of echocardiography. While in the USA he conducted research in non-invasive Institute. He has written some 75 papers, book chapters and articles and has lectured in over 10 countries around the world on the cardiology subspecialty of echocardiography. Whilst in the United States, Philip also completed his MBA at the University of Michigan in 1994. Philip is an avid bike rider in his spare time and loves spending time with his wife and three children.
