Seventh Epworth Cardiac Sciences Symposium

The Epworth Cardiac Sciences Institute will be hosting their seventh Symposium on Saturday 28 October at the Park Hyatt, Melbourne.

This year’s program is bigger than ever, with two international guest speakers and a number of special guest speakers. Mr Yasir Abu-Omar, Consultant Cardiothoracic and Transplant Surgeon, Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, will be discussing ‘Surgery for concomitant atrial fibrillation: Is it worth our while?’ and ‘Surgeon-specific outcomes in the modern NHS’, whilst Dr Hasmukh Ravat, Senior Interventional Cardiologist and Head, Fortis Hospital, Mumbai will be presenting ‘An interesting case of Hypercholesterolaemia.’ The first session will focus on the role of diet and exercise iin heart health, with Professor Prash Sanders, Director, Centre for Heart Rhythm Disorders, University of Adelaide, Associate Professor Leon Simons, Director, Lipid Research Department, St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney, and Associate Professor Andre La Gerche, Head of Sports Cardiology, Baker Institute all featuring on the program. Other program highlights include ‘What should support devices tell us’ and ‘Total chronic occlusions’ with Dr James Sapontis, ‘The ideal candidate for robotic assisted surgery’, presented by Mr Aubrey Almeida, and Dr Andris Ellims discussing ‘What’s new in Hypertropic Cardiomyopathy (HCM)?’.
